Library of Winds challenge: Stop

September 16th, 2006 (10:10 am)

Kat just sighed deeply and slid down to the floor. She shouldn't have done that. Shouldn't have let herself get close to someone like that.

No, she hadn't given her heart to them. It had just been a fling. Something she had in a way, sort have needed. That man had at least taken care of something. Showed her how lonely she had been. Tat she had to stop closing herself off.

But she shouldn't have slept with him. Made her feel dirty now. She knew she wasn't. But then there was another little problem.

She might be carrying his child.

That wasn't part of her plans at all. Would this child, if it was real or just a scare, change everything on her? Would she leave her work?

What would she do? She loved her job with the FBI.

Time to stop worrying, she decided as she let out a breath of air. If she was carrying a child? Well, she'd have to stop getting so worried. Surely there were other ways to handle it.

Library of Winds challenge: Glass

Challenge: Glass

Word Count: 138

She has a habit. Not a big one. Nor is it a bad one. A tiny one that was just rather silly. She collects something. Glass, that was what she collected. Not just any kind of glass. Blue glass. She had ten different pieces scattered across her house. Just things that she could admit to having. They weren't very pretty. But they were hers.
Plus she'd admit very quickly that almost all of her cups, bowls, and plates were of the same quality. She had gotten them on a whim when she moved into her home. It was for herself mostly. She didn't expect to ever have any company. So for her the pretty pieces of blue glass scattered around her home where for her enjoyment. No one else.
It was just one of her things after all.

J is for...Job. It had never just been that for her. It had been a goal. A thing she had looked forward to during the time she got better. Something she had aspired to for many years. She had enjoyed her childhood, what bits of it remained. But there was that job she had decided she had to have.

N is for ..Natural. Something she tries to be. She hates to lie or go against her nature. She hates to disguise how she thinks or feels. And to not dress in a way she feels comfortable.
Give her suits at work. Those feel real. Feel right. They feel so natural to her.
But in the fun she hides? The relaxation? Give her jeans, a loose but comfortable shirt, and boots to ride in. That's another natural part of her. But this is a thing she won't share with just anyone. They have to fit very naturally into her life.

T is for Trouble. It always found her. She knows this all too well. She doesn't want a white knight to save her from the troubles se knows she has. But she wouldn't mind someone helping her to face them.
She doesn't expect anyone though to fix her troubled heart. No one really can. She won't share what truly troubles her in that area.

V is for vow. She knows what vows are made of. They are promises. They are things she commits to her memory. She has never forgotten one. Never backed out on one she made.
Perhaps this is why some things hurt her deep down more than others.
But never will she break the vow. For breaking that would break her.

Z is for zealous. Something she was once. She isn't any more. That broke after having to bury another part of her. Zealous was what she could have been about someone though. They woke up something she didn't think she had.

G is for gunshot. Something that hurts. She can attest to that. But a gunshot saved her life. Also took the life of someone dear to her heart when she was young. She will though fire a gun when she has to.
She isn't afraid of the sound like she once was.

R is for red. The one color she has so many feelings for. She gravitates between hate and love. Hate for the years, at least it seemed that way, of therapy she had. Love for some reminders that she's a grown woman. Reminders that she wasn't someone over looked as a woman.
But really, wasn't it time to get rid of that red dress? She didn't think she'd wear it again. But she would admit it turned her cheeks red when she had been complimented on it.

Feet running over grass. Laughter filling the air. The sun shining down on them. Yeah. Things she recalled from her childhood.

There had been nothing like it. Nothing like being with her brothers. Even if Jack could be a big jerk sometimes.

But play has changed. Now instead of tossing a ball back and fourth or looking for bull frogs she plays a different kind of game. This time it's by herself.

As an adult playing cards. Or going to see Grace, laughing as the horse does little things to distract her.

But the one thing that hasn't changed about playing? She can still laugh.

Kat had been out with a few friends. They had managed to talk her into having lunch with them in a park not far from Shelly's apartment. Kat was just happy to hang out. She didn't get a chance too often, most times they were all busy.
"Bye Shelly, see 'ya around," Kat calls over her shoulder as she starts walking. Her other friends had to leave all ready.

Pity really. Meant she had a whole afternoon with bordum, unless her Dad called her again. They had been talking back and fourth more often lately. Was nice to do that.

Ice cream (just a quick drabble)

Kat just streches lazily. Long weekends away where nice. Long car rides that shouldn't be long just weren't fun. Not when her legs had been sore to begin with. But it was a good kind of sore. She grins a bit. Being with Grace was just plain awesome. Nothing like getting to ride her oerse. Brush her, wash her, and generally just be near that lovely creature.
Right. Time for ice cream. She had chosen to go to an ice cream parolor near her home rather than go home to eat ice cream alone. This was far more pleasent. Nothing like ice cream after a long day of driving.

Hmm. There was another thing, she decides as she elaxes in a booth with her sundae. A hot shower.

Trapped (Challenge)

It had been six months prior to meeting Sam, or Seeley. But this was one memory that truly stuck out in Kat's mind. And a big reason why she won't ever let anyone see her lower abdomen.

It had been just another case. Really, it had been. She knew that it was most likely just some kids playing with things they shouldn't have.

She had been wrong. Johnson had gotten separated from her. They had her. There was no way to escape. She was trapped. Chained by her hands and feet, left in a cold room. They were going to feed her to something. These were not kids either. Adults. She hadn't seen their faces either.

She had been even more upset when they changed their plans. She was to be given up as food to something they were trying to control. But it didn't get far. Just bit her when the others showed up. But it didn't change the fact she had been gone for three days. Trapped by these people. Nearly eaten.

How the hell had she gotten over that? How had she dealt with knowing she could have died? She trusted them to get her out. They would have gone to hell and back for her. Because each and everyone of them knew she and the others would do the same damn thing.

Demon Challenge

Kathrine had come back from two days of being away from her home. She had been thinking off and on about her old work with the FBI. Part of her smiles as she begins to change...Then opts instead to go take a hot shower. So she gets a few things from her dresser, and dumps them on the floor for after she's done.
She notices some old scars as she washes up. From demons she had encountered and killed on the job. The scars were so new looking to her. But she just shrugs that off and finishes bathing. She no longer would go after demons. Had no reason to. She'd just hope they never came after her

She turns the water of and steps out as she grabs a towel. As she towels herself off she thinks she hears a high pitched scraping noise.Like nails against a chalk board, it makes her wince. Quickly she gets dressed now, suddenly feeling nervous. She turns and stares at the bathroom mirror. What the hell? She brushes her hand over it and just gives a nervous gulp. What the hell was that thing? She peers closely at her mirror, there was a creature in it. It looked like a snake, with the upper torso of a woman. Like a naga. Only this thing that needles instead of ands. She yelps and jumps back when the creature seems to ram it's body at the mirror.

"Fuck this.." She leaves the bathroom with a growl. That was just wrong. She didn't want any part in this. That was just wrong. She felt a choked noise escape her throat. Damn it. Why did this have to happen? Right. Research first. Find out what that thing is and get rid of it. She hears the mirror shake. Then frowns. Right. Start now.

Library of Winds challenge: Fly

There are so many ways to fly. She knows that from experience. More than once something had sent her flying across a room. Someone either caught her or she hit a wall. Either way it could hurt like hell to feel her back smack into something.

Once to save someone from getting clawed open by a creature she had been hunting that had been killing people. She hadn't realized what she was doing until she was in the air, then hit the creature and blew its brains out. That kind of flying was different. The kind of flying that was in her opinion, just damn crazy.

There was another kind of flying. By plane. She used to hate it. Mostly because of the waiting to get on. Now she doesn't mind it so much. After all, this was a hell of a lot safer than getting thrown through the air, or jumping through the air.

Challenge: Priate

It had been a few years since she had worn that costume. It had felt so comfortable. With close fitting pants, her normal riding boots shined to perfection, and the close fitting linen shirt with the red velvet corset that went over it. It had been fun wearing a few beads in her air, the makeup that was supposed to make her look 'bad'.

Why?

She had dressed up as a pirate for a children's Halloween party. She had fun playing games.
Pretending to be from the sea just for a night. She even taught the kids some nautical terms she had picked up on while in the FBI. She had fun making the kids laugh for the night. Despite the fact she knew that night would end, and she'd have to take off the costume. Take it off and go back to being herself. But for that night? She got to pretend.
